weraboo_James
I am trying to connect my tracks for my M3 lee/grant but it is made of a different type of material to all of my other tank tracks and so the superglue I usualy use doesn't work nor does poly cement or hot glue. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to use.(sorry, couldn't find the model number)
peebeep
It sounds like you're referring to vinyl tracks, commonly named 'rubber band'. My own solution for joining them is to use superglue with accelerator/kicker. Using accelerator provokes an exothermic reaction and I would guess this is key, because it effectively causes the vinyl to weld together. I've got some B-7000 and T-7000 glues that are widely touted as being good at bonding anything, the next opportunity I get I might try them out on vinyl tracks. Failing that, I know other modellers that use either staples, or thread to sew the joint together, placing the joint where it's least visible. Ratch
Another way is to weld the ends using a hot soldering iron to melt them together.
Gilbert_H
For the one and only military vehicle kit that I have constructed in recent years (the Airfix 1/76 Sturmgeschütz III), I have used a clear canopy glue to join the track ends. It worked out quite well.
PanzerMeister12
Also stiching the two parts together may help, combined with some supeglue etc.
