ARC PRO Adding laps

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am really hoping you can help, as our enjoyment of our arc pro , in digital mode is really being hampered.

we are running a arc pro, with dual power, and a 23m track, with power cable extenders. There are 8 lane changers, and 2 pit lane changers.

I have seen some weird thing happening. Sometimes an additional lap or two is added during a race, when they have not actually happened.

I have seen this many times, but I am unable to replicate consistently. It seems related to pitting, but not sure.

what I can say is sometimes we these added laps have crazy lap times, like sub 3 seconds on a 11 second track.

I also tried the magic arc app, it also seemed to suffer, but even worse, in one test, after 14 laps in the 1st test car, the second test car had 5 laps added, and it wasn’t even on the track :(

does anyone have any insight at all? I am really out of ideas.

Update

while I have been unable to consistently replicate the issue, it seems related to shadows falling across the arc pro lap sensors.

it actually happened twice when I walked in the room. The lights were off but a projector was turned on which was high above the track and visible.

I have placed a tunnel over the track section to see if this eliminated the issue.

wondering if anyone has seen any IR interference which has messed with the Arc pro lap sensor?

I had that problem with a competing product that also used IR sensors.
is the project LED? It could be that the light from the projector is pulsing at a similar frequency and causing this.

Hey, yes it is an LED projector. It also seems that having the blinds open in the room makes it worse, I can’t imagine why, as the sun, isn’t may be refracted, but it is not directly on the start/finish.

still investigating to find a good solution. Will post here when I have an absolute answer

The Sun's radiation is primarily infrared which is exactly what triggers these things.

I did an experiment with the kids where we put the shades down and used a device we borrowed from school and measured IR radiation.

We opened the shades slat by slat and you could see a huge increase. It also increased in the darkest corners of the room...
