96RAF
How about Hornby bringing back smoke for steam locos, using modern tech.
Bulleidboy
Have you seen this Rob? Having watched this a couple of times, I think the system used on the Bournemouth West layout looks better - works on a similar principle - water.
96RAF
I follow TRS trains Barry and he has done a lot of loco types, some seem to work better than others for effect. Definitely more realistic than the old oil burning system as it is also chuff synched to the Zimo sound decoder. A tad expensive I believe to have a bespoke system fitted to your own loco - circa £200. He doesn’t do retro kits either only installs by commission.Apparently the basic ultrasonic mist generator system is used on model ships and folk have also used it for chimney smoke from buildings, etc.
Bulleidboy
I watched the Bournemouth West video again, and it would appear the designer of their system is hoping to make it available in due course. I think it would be as the TRS train system, in that you send your loco to them and they fit it.
96RAF
That is the current method Barry. You send him a loco and it comes back all done, sound, lights, smoke, firebox glow, and/or etc as commissioned. Many demo videos on his FB page. Much more effective than oil smoke.
