You use a smart device to control not only speed and braking but also other events like pitstops or affecting the other driver.It is more like adding an arcade game layer on top of regular racing.I am not sure what is meant by "going digital" with spark plug. The two systems are pretty much mutually exclusive from a technical point of view. The same as diesel and petrol/gasoline.
