Power base always on

We have a brand new scalextrix that was a gift to our son.

we don’t have receipt to take back to retailer .

since we assembled it one of the tracks just has the power constantly on. As soon as you put car on it it shoots off. The other track works fine. It’s not the car or the controller. Would be grateful if anybody has ideas what issue is and how to fix. It’s a shame as it’s brand new but may even be dangerous as the current is constantly flowing through. Thanks for all help!

HI There,

We need to know which set you have.

Also, double check if this is a power base or controller issue.

To do this remove the powerbase from all other track.

Remove one controller.

Apply power (plug it into the wall)

Put a car on each lane alternatively.

Swap the controller for the other lane.

Repeat with the other controller.

Now remove BOTH controllers and see if there is any power on the lane(s) by putting a car on it.

If you still have a problem with full power all the time contact Hornby Customer Care (link as at the right) and get the controller and/or powerbase replaced.

They are usually very good about this...

If power is no long on all the time then the problem is a section of track and not the pwoerbase or controllers.

The onyl way to test that is to keep adding track until the problem happens and then you know which piece it is....
