Second Hand Starter set

Hello. I am new to the forum and, after looking through the threads, I've not found the information I'm looking for - apologies if I've missed something!

I have a 10 year old son who is new to Scalextric/Carrera. I'd like to buy him a starter set, with view to adding to it if he loves it (I suspect he will, and his dad too!)

However as money money isn't plentiful and my eBay experiences are largely positive, I'm looking for a second hand set.

Please can you kindly suggest some ideas. I have a max budget of £100'ish (less is great!). Footprint of our sitting room rug is 1.8m x 2m.

Many thanks in advance.

These will give you ideas as to what to look for.

The best advice is stay away from "Classic" track with the "spoons" or "loops" instead of the "Sport" connectors. The track is usually very rusty and will cause a lot of frustration.

For few years there was a type of track called "Start" that requires a special adapter. Avoid this as well. The connector looks very different so just keep an eye out.

Otherwise the best thing to do is local pick up and ask to test the track before paying.

Also, check if there is is a local club that could help you find a set and get started...

Good luck!
