81F
I have been trying to find out a bit more about the coach and all I can find is that it was a "Barrier Coach" at wembly and was also based at Old Oak Common at some point. Can anyone tell me what its actual uses were since I associate barrier coaches as being a vehicle placed between the locomotive and a hazardous load. Many thanks
Going Spare
Purely a guess, but I imagine it was used for the movement of dead diesel or electric multiple units, or part units, when their more modern couplings did not match those on the (diesel) locomotive being used for the move.In some ways rather like the Tri-ang/Hornby-Dublo converter wagons - different couplings at each end. ModelerXYZ
I don't know, but BSO is brake second open, so it was a brake coach, with a second class open seating plan at one time. As it is a departmental coach however, I expect it had its seats removed for departmental use. Apparently said coach resides at the Northampton and Lamport railway, however I couldn't find any mention of it on their stock lists.XYZ
