81F
Hi All, Does anyone know if Mentholated Spirit is likely to harm modern paint finishes on rtr rolling stock or more accurately a solution of 3 parts meths to one of water as I need to use this in order to apply some 'Methfix' transfers. Also is this likely to harm acrylic paints? Also is there anything I might need to know before I seal the transfers with an acrylic varnish. Although I have used these in the past that was before acrylic paint became available. Many thanks for any help.
atom3624
If you rub methylated spirits on decals / transfers / tampo-print then it will remove them, yes. If you simply 'damp' the surface, probably not. If you have an old 'basher' anywhere, try it out on this. It is always a good practice to seal in with a light cover of varnish, yes. Al. Simmo009
Not used this type of decal before, but I assume you only use small amounts of the dilute solution. Should be OK on acrylics, but test first if you can for your own peace of mind. Long term dunking in meths is probably not a good idea, but I guess you knew that already 😉.
