Lee Weeman
Love the build!I must ask though, how painful was this build putting the upper and lower decks into the ship itself? I'm currently building one and Im having real trouble with it! Also have you experimented with the colours for the decks? I tried a sample of 71 Oak Satin, but it doesnt look right. Any Recommendations?
Ratch
Thanks Lee, I built this just over four years ago and don't recall any problems fitting the lower and upper decks - I certainly didn't comment about them in my notes. As for the decks, I did use 71 Satin Oak on this build, though on other ships I've also used 29 Matt Dark Earth, 110 Matt Natural Wood and Vallejo 13 70858 Ice Yellow. Lee Weeman
Ah, must be just me then with my lack of construction experience. It seems for my build, there is some serious bending of the top deck to allign with the side of the ship, like, it feels its going to snap. With no problems with yours, I guess I will need to be really careful with my build. Thanks for the input on the colours, I will try and experiment with colours to match the real HMS Victory.
Ratch
If your parts are warped it will cause fit problems - hope you can overcome them. I hope to see your finished build.
Ratch
I painted my windows silver, then overpainted with clear blue.
Lee Weeman
Yeah I was also wondering how you managed to paint that!. The thing is so tiny and some good details on to paint. A very steedy hand is going to be needed I think.
