58001
This is not normal behaviour! I should contact Hornby customer care or the shop from where you bought it.

Blackbird
I would try setting the decoder to 'factory default settings'. Available from your controller, see instruction sheet. Hope that is of help.
RobF
Hi - did you get a fix for this? I know this thread is ages old, but I've just picked up a 50 and have the same issue.thanks
poliss
New or second hand? If second hand then have you tried resetting the decoder as mentioned?
RobF
Hi.. 2nd Hand. Yes, I reset the decoder and I dropped the seller a query.Interestingly, said it did run slow but bought a Hornby dcc controller and it ran fine. Previously NCE PowerCab - which is the same as I have. Just wondering if there is a setting that needs adjusting - perhaps specifically for NCE. I've checked the usual suspects. I've also dropped Loksound an email as it's their v3.5 chip in there. I haven't really found many other issues like this on the Web - one other on another forum. Gregd99
have a look at teh CV values related to speed. Is the decoder using the speed table (check CV29 bit 4 in www.hornby.com/filelibrary/download/?FileID=186)? if yes then check the values in teh speed table (CV67-96).much more likely is that it will be using CV2,5,6 where CV5 sets the maximum speed.reading the loksound documentation shows that CV5 has a range 0..64 and a default value of 64. Form my reading of the nmra spec this CV can have a value up to 255 (=4 x 65). I have also seen some discussion on this forum on the same topic.so.... try setting CV5 to 127 and see if there is any change. have a look also at https://www.hornby.com/forums/hornby-forums/hornby-digital/4272/?page=2#post48653
