Ratch
Amera's S131 Airfix D-Day Coastal Defence Fort base alongside their S226 Coastal Assault with S228 D-Day Bunker and the Airfix A05702 D-Day Coastal Defence Fort. There is a Heller Pak-40 in the bunker. I can't recall where I got the beach obstacles from, but I scratched the long hedgehogs. There are a few Revell and Matchbox German figures mixed in with Airfix German Infantry, Paratroops and Mountain Troops, and Airfix British Infantry and Commandos.http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690027.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690032.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690023.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690020.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690015.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690011.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690006.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410690001.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410689999.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410689996.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693197.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693199.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693202.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693204.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693209.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693212.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693215.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693220.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/20071953/410693223.jpg
Jan Karrman
I have been building models (scale 1:56) inspired by my memories of Airfix models from my childhood and turning them into articles for a wargaming magazine. Having covered the gun emplacement and the pontoon bridge I'm now doing the coastal defence fort and would love to find out anything about the model (designers involved, history, your memories, etc.) Waiting for the original kit to arrive today so I can start doing my version. /media/tinymce_upload/906054885800edaf303d93cc298fe854.JPG
Ratch
I take you mean 1/76 not 1/56 (never heard of models in that scale)

Ratch
I've heard of 28mm - but why would you mix the 1/76 Coastal Defence Fort with 1/56 figures? Most modellers won't mix 1/72 with 1/76!

Jan Karrman
Hi, The models I use are scratch built in scale 1:56 and the figures are 28mm. The Airfix models are only used for reference, not with the figures. I include what information I can find about about the original models in the articles as well as photos of them with original packaging, etc. Arthur Ward helped me with info for the first arcicle but I have very little info about the coastal defence fort. /media/tinymce_upload/8a974667f35b22df4c958124dc80d532.JPG
Kenneth ONeill
Based on the photo above, the fort in question was a semi-freelance design based on a variety of surviving (1960s) fortifications along the Normandy and English Channel coast of France. It's not a replica of a specific design.

Jan Karrman
Hi Paws4thot,Would you like to elaborate why you think it's a semi freelance design. I'm interested to know more. Thanks!
Ratch
Its a freelance because it doesn't represent any individual known fort. Its more of a pastiche.
Jan Karrman
Freelance design means that it was designed by someone not permanently employed by the company, ie someone working on a consultancy basis. We all agree that none of the forts are accurate models of existing structures but toys inspired by them.
Ratch
That is not the context that Paws is using. Lost in translation.
