  1. Bad taste alert - HMS Conqueror, which just needs to be a periscope optics head sticking out of a patch of sea?
  2. Yes; I was thinking that there's probably a Falcon vacform set (looks pricey but contains 12 canopies for different types).
  3. Cheers Patrick. Based on the catalogue page, I'd suggest that the tooling is actually MPC and 1/25 scale. I don't recognise the Ford J itself, but the Toyota 2000GT convertible, the Aston Martin DB5, the Monkeemobile and the surf Ford Woodie were all licenced MPC tools. I think the 3 "muscle cars" were as well.
  4. I'd also not be surprised to find an aftermarket "conversion set" for the beer runner. After all, it only needs the "JR" suffix to the id code, new serials, and a couple of beer casks. (presuming the kit includes wing bomb racks)
  5. Exactly so Rod; part of the issue is that we only really see display/museum painted warbirds these days.
  6. OK, not Airfix kit(s yet), but there are several EH (aka AW) 101 models available.
  7. Destiny, Rhapsody, Symphony, Melody and Harmony.
  8. A new tool Skyraider (Spad), with 5" rockets and a suitable colour scheme.
  9. Well, for what it's worth, the roof of the SRN4 kit was specifically designed to be removable.
  10. That would be because the Phantom II (all variants in model form) has its CoG forward of the main wheels, so it doesn't need nose weighting. That said, there's some good advice here for types that do.
  11. Could try Hobby Link Japan website maybe?
  12. Nice build; as you imply the model is "wargames standard", in particular the external fuel tanks should be 2 on one side and one on the other but I didn't know that back in the 1970s.
  13. Memory says H11 "silver fox", H14 "French blue", H33 "matt black", and maybe dark brown and flesh for the pilot.
  14. The Airfix destructions say H14 "French Blue", and I've never seen a colour photo of an S6-B.
  15. White Sidcots would be plausible from the formation of the RAF up to the Battle of Britain I think.
  16. You're old enough to have served on vehicles with Cullen cutters fitted!!?
  17. Agreed - 2 sets of one pair of wing parts and none of the other pair is clearly a packing error, and not one that will show up by techniques like box weight either.
  18. I can't see an "embarrassed" emoticon. I should know better.
  19. No sign of her having recently run down an anti-aircraft cruiser though. (a factual if most unfortunate incident from said wartime service).
  20. Answering you both:- 1) I'd rarely use aircrew because most aircraft actually spend most time on the ground unoccupied. 2) That said, I can justify "only a pilot" (and maybe a navigator or RT operator) by saying "he's on an engine test". Certainly this works for a Mossie with just a pilot. 3) Having said that, if you want a model of $type during "the big show" you do want all cockpit and defensive gunner positions to be occupied.
  21. Yeah, I read your post as being mark numbers, not series numbers.
  22. Hard NO! The Tempest V and VI both have Napier Sabre engines, and the Tempest II has a Bristol Centaurus. See Hawker Tempest - Wikipedia .
  23. I can't help beyond that H70 Brick Red is used for large parts of the interior, so it's scarcely a "detail colour" and I think Tamiya also do a version.
