Ozwarrior
I have taken the plunge!I'm going to need help from you guys as on the Gold Coast there's no one else I know with the Hornby system and even the shop I bought it from knows less than I do...Question 1:I notice there's a port for a USB cord but the white coloured fitting looks odd. What is the name or code number as I presume if I'm to get updates I'll need one?All advice much appreciated.Les
Brightstar
Hi Ozwarrior,I have not got my elite with me, so I will ask a question. Is the socket for the USB port squarish with bevels on one side. If so you need a USB printer cable, also known as a USB A to B cable, this has a type A plug (flat)on one end and a type B plug (square) on the other end. It may also be listed as a USB Data Transfer cable.
Ozwarrior
Hi Brightstar,Yes it is squarish with two beveled corners more on the bottom. In the middle is a rectangular piece which the plug fits around I imagine. I hope this explains it.
Brightstar
Hi Ozwarrior,I forgot to mention the cable needs to be a USB 2.0 cable and not a USB 3.0 cable as the peripheral type B plug will not fit into a type 2.00 socket.
Gregd99
The cable that you need is the generic usb printer cable. just pinch the one from your printer and test it out.these cables are available from most computer shops.

Fireman_Ian
Don't forget to check that you have the latest firmware version, if you have v1.2 then you need to download v1.3 from the downloads section and install it.Ian
