Tyre Help Needed!

Hi All,

I need a little pointer as to where I can get new tyres for my digital cars.  Being a newby, I can't find out what the code numbers for the cars are as they are all pack ins.

I have the Supercar set with two Bugatti Veyron's and I got the Law Enforcer set (had to be done, it was in the sale!) which has the police Audi R8, the Dodge Challenger Hotrod and a Chevrolet Corvette.

It's been raced non-stop since Christmas and the tyres on all have no grip whatsoever.  So is there someone who could point me in the right direction on what I'm looking for on here?  I've searched Bugatti and can only find front tyres!

Many thanks in advance and happy racing!!

Have you tried rolling the back wheels over sticky tape before each race?

Also, take the chip out (important to avoid overloading it and risking destroying it) or temporarily put the tyres on an analogue car. Then true (scuff) the tyres by putting some emery or a finer sandpaper under the back wheels and lightly sanding them by holding the back up and lightly touching the paper - better to keep the throttle less than 75% and don't push the car down. This will improve the tyre grip no end by taking the shiny slippery surface off and making then more uniform.

Some also rub in a drop of light oil like 3in1 to soak in overnight, but over time this can degrade the rubber.

If that all fails, then look for some urethane or silicon tyres. Scalextric do some and some specialist online shops like RS Slot Racing or Paul Gage tyres on Ebay.

http://www.scalextric-car.co.uk/Parts/Parts_Tyres.htm

This website is great...easy to deal with and has compatibility info as well....

I run digital racing nights (to which I supply the cars) so I find tyres tend to wear out, I have a variety of classes that I have 6 car sets for.

When running magless I use Mjk urethane (because they are easy to get in Australia) urethane is basically the only other compound to run with other cars running rubber (silicone deteriorate too quick from rubber pickup) I think the European guys use ortman, most hastle I have is figuring out what fits on standard scalex hubs

When  running mags I use standard scalextric tyres that are trued and sanded then softened Wd40, when they wear out (usually stretch out- causing the hub to spin freely inside the tyre) I then swap over to http://www.scalextric-car.co.uk/Parts/Parts_Tyres.htm selecting the appropriate tyre off their list (which usually just need sanding and truing) they just need cleaning with tape they are plenty soft enough (still much faster than standard).

They are also very handy if you need other spares (i have broken so many 1.5mm bar magnets when they have slammed together in my spares box)

Their postage is reasonable as well

Hope this helps better late than never "Dasildon"

I bought back replacement tires (excuse my English) for two Porsche GT3 from independent dealer, one fit, runs great one set didnt and rubs car body. Same type car, same size tire. So, i am looking for advice on type of tire to buy and how to properly order for Jags from Digital Race Line set and Lotus Evora GT4 and McLaren MP4 and Audi R8 GT3.
