The prototype seems to have 3'8" rather than the standard GWR 4' Does anyone know the diameter!
96RAF
The second picture in post #22 here diam shows 3'8" and earlier there is mention of no brakes on the third axle. I would say the front wheel set in your picture is the Bachy ones as the spokes are different.Rob
81F
Many thanks RAF, you are right about the wheel. However, as these are 16mm (4') I've therefore ordered some Gibson 3'8" wheels. I have to admit the gap between the wheels didn't look right but I hope the smaller diameter will help.
81F
/media/tinymce_upload/cffd4f033dd46a0544724e329ac951db.jpg My second attempt now with springs and scale 3'8" (14mm) Gibson wheels - but still not quite right. Still a little too high and the newly added NEM pocket is too low so the third print (now on order) will hopefully correct this.

JeremiahBunyan
My HO (1:87 scale) range of WDM-2 and WDM-3A locos (original builds for now) has just entered the final CAD phase. Only the details like the doors and hole for the hanrails and pipes need to be done now. Just thought I share an image of it prior to adding the final details./media/tinymce_upload/add6a30a319ffc8d552acd6ef9b7b6f0.jpg The custom built bogies are also now in production and almost finished./media/tinymce_upload/0331a5963f4a507b30923e145127939a.jpg

81F
Just produced a rolling chassis for a GWR iphon J using a 3D printed underframe with some Hornby (or could be Airfix or Dapol) bogies left over from re-bogieing some outside framed Siphon G or H. Now working on the body
81F
Just taken delivery of the Siphon J roof and body. The roof worked but there is a problem withg the body - the rainstrip fell off. Examining the CAD file I see that I had left a very tiny gap so I have fixed the error and ordered a new body. I've also taken the oportunity to add some stiffners to the side as they were a little flexible.
JeremiahBunyan
After quite a while, I'm back with something to post here. Decided to do something with a narrow gauge theme. With the availability of a large range of N gauge chassis from TomyTec, Kato and Greenmax, I decided to design an NG diesel used by the Indian Railways. This is the ZDM-3A and ZDM-4A. It uses a TomyTec mechanis and Peco couplings. The chassis and couplings have been ordered and delivered and the 3D printed kit is going to be ordered today. /media/tinymce_upload/a9ce932b293a52251250f4130bf44944.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/c41645a58905cfb36aee5f76b729d240.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/259691cd413babdf933c109c6885de2a.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/b19c0e65e9801394e384a96ccab6653a.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/09a45105d8ab71ce91e2be77884e1db5.jpg

The bogies are from a Hornby Centenary or Airfix Siphon G while the buffers are Markits. The roof, body and solebars are the 3d printed components and are a simple clip fit. The only glue needed is to hold the buffers in. The model is split yp so that each component acn be sprayed with no masking needed

I have therefore modified the virtual model and added detail (as shown above), and am awaiting a half section test print from shapeways to check all is OK. The filler pipe is planned to be a separate piece.

RegardsHi 81F, I do indeed have an online shop on said website. However I've currently de-listed the kits to further improve them. I'm currently adding more detail and re-arranging the many parts of the kit such that the overall print quality will improve even further. If you'd like to talk about them more offline, feel free to ask Adam for any of my email IDs. Currently I reside in India and that means every time I want to test my own kits, I need to sell an organ. And it just so happens that I need to organs to live. Jokes aside, a basic loco kit will cost me over $120 (that is more than double the cost of the 3D print) once I factor in Shapeways' ricdiculous $30 shipping charges and the greedy b*gg*rs at the Customs Department. So a gentleman in the UK, the one whose amazing painting skills we saw in the images above has suggested that he buys the first kit and test it out. Based on his feedback I then improve the kit and only after that I put it up for general sale. This saves me a lot of much needed money and I also benefit from a kit that has been test built for me. JeremiahBunyan
Lou continues to share pictures of the various kits he's building which he had bought for me. Remember the pictures are quite cruel close ups. This is a ZDM-3 loco. It's an NG loco, and the ZDM-3 runs on the Kalka - Shimla Railway in the Himalayas in northern India. /media/tinymce_upload/1d353a27aa434829f392696ab4f4cf15.jpg
