Ratch
No, they were both off e-bay. The figures I got for a bargain, under a fiver, and I needed more knobs for a 9F I'm working on.
NWR-Gordon-4
Yes, that is a bargain. Still worth stocking up. I will not be surprised if the post servicers and couriers stop at somepoint, so any online purchases could be delayed for months. NWR-Gordon-4
Ratch, when multiples of the smae kit to build, do you build them togther, so stage 1 for boths at the same time and so on; Or do you build one kit and complete and then start the second one straight after or for another time? Ratch
I have to do some research firstly to discover the differences between the three ships.
NWR-Gordon-4
So HMS Belfast, HMS Manchester and HMS Sheffield are all the same type of ship, but would have been painted in a different livery? Sorry, I do not know anything about ships. You do not intend on making an HMS Belfast then, the orginal intention for this Airfix release? Ratch
I have built Belfast twice, the last time was June 2019. I even posted the build here:https://www.airfix.com/uk-en/forum/post/view/topic_id/27726/?p=1Not that there was much interest. All three were Town-class light cruisers, but they may have had different refits. NWR-Gordon-4
Oh sorry, I did not recognise that post. That must have been one that I had missed. If I had noticed it when it was new thread, I probably would have commented on it. I don't want to comment on a 9 months old thread. I dislike resurrecting old threads, due to past experience. It looks good nevertheless, Ratch. 😀 Clickable hyperlink, to Ratch's thread from June 2019: Airfix Forum - 1/600 HMS Belfast. Ratch
How do you make the clickable hyperlink? I used to be able to do it, but now, no matter what I try it doesn't work 🤔
peebeep
How do you make the clickable hyperlink? I used to be able to do it, but now, no matter what I try it doesn't work 🤔 Type the text you want to link, then highlight it. Click the link button and type in the URL, click 'insert'. The dialogues in the text editor have to be the least intuitive of any forum I've visited and I'm sure that particular feature is not functioning correctly. NWR-Gordon-4
I would just like to add that the 'link button', is the blue completed chains. You will find this to the right of the button to insert a numbered list. GNR-Gordon-4 (AF)
peebeep
And back on topic, I couldn't resist this when it came up on a Facebook auction site and pushed the boat out a little. Given that I'm self-employed and work is likely to dry up during the duration I won't be purchasing much in the immediate future. NWR-Gordon-4
Paul Brown, the artwork on the box looks good. If you please do not mind me asking, roughly how old is that McDonnell XV-1 Convertiplane (Heliplane / planecopter)? GNR-Gordon-4 (AF)
peebeep
The kit was first issued by ITC in 1959, the Glencoe issue 1988. The convertiplane was technically a gyrodyne (same class as the Fairey Rotodyne) with the rotors being powered up for takeoffs and landings with tip jets. Once sufficient airspeed was built up with the conventional prop power the rotor jets were shut down and the rotor disc left to auto gyrate. NWR-Gordon-4
I have never heard of ITC before. I will try and do some research later, if I can remember! 😆 😉 😀 Thank you for the detailed information, Paul Brown. 😉 😀 GNR-Gordon-4 (AF)
