Backafter5
can I connect decoder straight to elink and use it just for controlling points and continue to use select for controlling trains.
96RAF
Only if you have a separate bus for your points to that used for the track. The Select will not talk to RM though as it does not have a USB port, so all the screen will be able to do is show you a trackplan and control points but not list your locos and run them from the screen. The usual way to use a Select with RM is as a Walkabout from an Elite.Rob
Chrissaf
Personally, I would put your Select away in a cupboard as an emergency backup and control your whole layout points plus LOCOs from RailMaster using the eLink. As Rob says above, the Select is not suitable for combined use with RM / eLink..The RM / eLink combo, can do so much more with your locos than the Select can do. Read and write CVs for instance. Backafter5
So if I had the select connected to a power track and elink to a different power track depending on which one I plug in would it work and remember setting.. It's the grandson can work the select but is still to young for the PC.

Fishmanoz
While I agree that the best use for a Select is to fill the back corner of a bottom drawer, not for running trains if you have eLink/RM available, you can do what you've asked as long as they are connected quite separately as Rob has said. It is not possible to have more than one DCC controller connected to any circuit. So you can only use it for points if those points have their decoders connected directly to eLink, not via the track if it is being run by a Select.
