walkingthedog
If a loco doesn't have grooves it doesn't have traction tyres. That is normal. Not everything has tyres thank heavens.
ConfusedRobotCat
My Thomas is pretty old. It definitey does have traction tyres, but they're cracked and worn and could do with replacing. On the topic of parts, which of Hornby's spare buffers would fit him? The dang thing has been in storage so long I have no idea how it lost a buffer but it went and did.
ronp849
I have replaced several damaged/worn/missing traction tyres with narrow slivers of heat shrink tubing. Two layers per wheel were needed to produce the required thickness. The traction was not quite as good as the genuine tyre but since I did not need to pull 15+ carriages, it was good enough for me. (I have used this for both oo and n gauges). Ron
olly
These are the correct tyres for Thomas http://www.petersspares.com/hornby-x8101-l5716-l6241-large-060-traction-tyres-pk10.irThe part number is x8101 the 4f are a different size so won’t fit . Heat shrink won’t have the grip of the proper Hornby tyres hope this helps you olly
