Traction Tyres?

What size traction tyres does Thomas use?

4F 0-4-0 Fowler traction tyres fit? 

Only the traction tyres on mine have worn out.

If a loco doesn't have grooves it doesn't have traction tyres. That is normal. Not everything has tyres thank heavens.

My Thomas is pretty old. It definitey does have traction tyres, but they're cracked and worn and could do with replacing.

On the topic of parts, which of Hornby's spare buffers would fit him? 

The dang thing has been in storage so long I have no idea how it lost a buffer but it went and did.

I have replaced several damaged/worn/missing traction tyres with narrow slivers of heat shrink tubing.

Two layers per wheel were needed to produce the required thickness.

The traction was not quite as good as the genuine tyre but since I did not need to pull 15+ carriages, it was good enough for me. (I have used this for both oo and n gauges).

The part number is x8101

 

the 4f are a different size so won’t fit .

 

Heat shrink won’t have the grip of the proper Hornby tyres

With toby clean the wheels with Isopropyl alcohol so there’s no oil or grease on them
