Photogreycat
I have installed a Hornby sound decoder for a class 31 loco on my DCC layout. On operating the emergency stop via the controller the decoder no longer produces any sound. It will however continue to allow the loco to be driven and the lights continue working.I have tried the reset using 8 entered in cv8 and changed the address of the loco but the sound is still not available. I have other sound decoders on the layout but have never experienced this type of problem. Please could I have some help with this problem?John
Fishmanoz
Try writing 5 to CV8 to reset sound volume to default, although writing 8 should have done this too. Then check your actual overall and individual sound volume settings, and also try to change them if still needed.
Fireman_Ian
If you used the speaker that came with the TTS decoder then it is likely a faulty speaker, best to replace it with a more reliable one.
96RAF
Make of Class 31 and type of controller?
salmotrutta
I appeared to have fried my chip as it slid forward into the pins under the DCC socket. Fried the motor control rather than the sound. Then I found the piece of paper that suggested covering the decoder with scotch tape....
96RAF
Oo-er... if all else fails read the instructions.Hornby has obviously tested the glue on proprietary brands sticky tape to prove it is non conductive.Rob
salmotrutta
Well it continued to go pear-shaped as the chassis fell apart as well-it appears the zinc-pest is rampant...
