Octocon
Good AfternoonJust wondering if anyone still has a D4093 08 shunter form the mixed goods set I have just acquired one but have been unable to read the dcc controller on the e-link system but other trains i have are ok, upon closer inspection I believe the DCC unit has been removed to allow the train to run on analogue, anyone have a picture of the innardswith dcc fitted?Sorry just for question new to the hobby and to dcc control regards Octo
2e0dtoeric
Sorry, don't have a blanking board to hand, but if you look at the board that is fitted, if a blank - it will have almost NO components on it, just a few link bridges between pins. A decoder board will be crammed with tiny components.
jane1707819582
Hi pop the body off the loco ,on one side the decoder should be visible ,from memory it is a 4 pin
96RAF
Have a look at service sheet 278.The little thing plugging into the socket is a blank. If it has a bunch of wires going to a more complex thing like this then its a decoder.https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/digital-locomotive-decoder-v1-3-nmra-compliant.html Rob
Howbi
As Jane2 said these locos are fitted with the Hornby X9659 4-pin decoder.......this has a harness with a 4 pin socket........if the plug is removed then the motor would be hard wired to the pick-up leads.......HB/media/tinymce_upload/f233b38b589fa520a5cc25cfe6cc961e.JPG
Chrissaf
And here is a picture of the Hornby X9659 4 pin DCC decoder (where it can be plugged into a corresponding connector on the loco as opposed to hard wired). Be aware that locos with fitted decoders will by default (unless changed by editing a CV) run on Analogue DC as well. So the only way to be truly sure if one is fitted is to remove the body and look for it..https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/4-pin-decoder.html
