Ashbourne Junction
Hi. Has anyone had any success converting the City of Leeds Duchess (as in the Middy Scot set) to DCC? i couldn’t find anything through the search or elsewhere. I know its probably pre DCC, but just wondered. Thanks for any advice.
WilliamDavid
This may be non dcc or dcc ready. I think it came in both versions. You need to take the loco body off and see if a 8 pin decoder is fitted. If one is fitted, easy.If not, you will have to hard wire the decoder. 96RAF
If you know the catalogue R- number then you can find the service sheet for it which will show if there is a socket or not and/or where it is.
Ashbourne Junction
Thanks. Looks like it is r2078 which equates to service sheet 223. No mention of dcc unfortunately.
Fishmanoz
Or SS111 for that R number. Either way, it is a Ringfield tender drive. Check Brian Lambert for which of the 3 types is in it and how to convert it. You must first make sure the brush connectors are isolated from the chassis. tnttrucker
I have this model from the Royal Scot train pack. It has a Ring field tender drive motor and it was a hardwire job. I had to replace one of the screws holding the brush and spring in place with a nylon screw (got from Peters spares)in order to isolate it from the motor/tender chassis. It was then just a soldering job. There is room in the tender for chip to fit, I used double sided sticky tabs.
