Mr. Fink-Nottle
Hi. Does anyone where / how I can get a replacement windshield (right hand side if you were in the driver's cab) for a 4-6-0 Royal Scot class loco "Duke of Sutherland?" Have searched everywhere for it but no success. Short of trying to make one myself, can anyone advise of an outlet which supplies spare parts? Thanks, Peter. /media/tinymce_upload/f0447ce8e3b3e9494157968cdb65010b.jpg
walkingthedog
When you say you searched everywhere did you look here? They are called smoke delectors. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-X9751-Scot-Smoke-Deflectors-1-Pair-With-Overhead-Warning-Sticker-/331889214722 or here https://www.petersspares.com/hornby-x9751-scot-smoke-deflectors-1-pair-with-overhead-warning-sticker.ir
walkingthedog
Oh blimey. Smoke deflectors not delectors, which is probably why you couldn't find any if you were looking for windshields.
96RAF
I hadn't spotted the obvious missing ‘barn door’, so I was going to suggest making a new ‘window’ out of clear packing plastic.
olly
It's not a royal Scot it's a patriot class R357 is the Hornby model number it's a uk made model . China made parts may not fit this model.sorry I'm not sure of the correct part number you need
walkingthedog
Here you are then. https://www.petersspares.com/hornby-x9755-patriot-smoke-deflectors-1-pair.ir Things can usually be made to fit.
atom3624
WTD those are for the rebuilt Scot and Patriot. He's showing an unrebuilt model ... different deflectors.I'd look for an old Patriot / Scot body or non-working locomotive as options. How about this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HORNBY-R311-DUKE-OF-SUTHERLAND-LMS-CRIMSON-5541-BODY-SHELL/401978725793?hash=item5d97cc95a1:g:LJEAAOSwz39dvvY7 Al. walkingthedog
Thanks Atom. I'm sure somebody makes etched brass versions that would be far superior to the plastic ones. How about these? https://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/products/jedetail/deflectors/jek12
Going Spare
The unrebuilt Patriot smoke deflector moulding numbers are L5119 and L5120 (I do not recall which is left and which is right) and used to be available separately in both matt (painted) and gloss (plain plastic) finishes. Also available as a pair in a pack (matt only and also weathered) X3593/X3593W as per service sheet 280.Check with Peters Spares - they certainly had them a while back but do not list them now.GS
atom3624
Good options there. That body I found, relatively speaking looked immaculate and pretty cheap.I liked those brass ones - nice find. Al.
walkingthedog
I always prefer brass versions they are much thinner. Never seen those from that company before.
Mr. Fink-Nottle
Hi everyone. Thanks for all your replies. The patriot ones were the wrong shape sadly, but the loco body on eBay is in my watch list. I have emailed Peter's Spares to see if they can supply what I need. If not, I will probably bid on eBay. If anyone else wants to post then please do so. Thanks.

Mr. Fink-Nottle
In the end', I bought the body shell as I felt this was the best option, as it had the exact smoke deflector I was looking for. I can keep the original body as spares etc. Thanks anyway for your help everyone.
atom3624
That body was at a decent price with few if any other interested parties. Glad you got it resolved to your liking. Al.
