Ruffnut Thorston
Hi Jimbo. That is the Lima model of the GWR small prairie, 45xx. The CR blue is rather well done. I'm pretty sure that Lima didn't do that one... But it does remind me of the preserved Fairburn tank, that was also turned out in CR Blue livery. It also reminds me of the 1950s BE express blue livery.
LCDR
BR 1949 blue is often described as Caledonian Blue, which was discontinued in 1952 because it faded and also it was difficult to match when touching it up to repair damage. (Shades of the Nanking Blue problem discussed elsewhere on the Forum!) . Interestingly the blue chosen by BR in 1964 for its corporate image was far less troublesome in this respect, although it did fade over time it lasted much longer. In fact BR Corporate blue was one of the best colour schemes ever devised in my opinion, because it looks bright, especially in combination with grey, and it was reasonably easy to keep clean. The HST power cars in blue grey and yellow were quite striking, far better than any subsequent scheme.

Also have a rare Dock Shunter from Canada which is the Yard switcher body but has Dock Shunter markings in black and no holes in buffer beams or buffers, it has early open type couplings. It's tucked away at moment so have'nt got any photos. Got a '59 issue Nellie with different lining and Nellie's with numbers 6, 7, &
