NWR-Gordon-4
Hey, new lad on block. How about some posting comparision photos between the 2008 release R9257 Spencer and 2012 re-release R9749 Spencer (Limited Production)*, in your time? Thank you in advanced.Β πΒ * Unless one or both Spencer's play up, wanting to be the better model!Β π π πΒ GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
new lad on block
Very little differences in the two variations of the Spencer. The first is the box for each model. R9257 comes in the normal Hornby blue box with the 'ribbon' detail at the bottom of the box.It has a yellow label with 'R' number and bar code. The limited Edition Spencer R9749, comes in the blue and yellow box with a extra card band, on the side is the yellow label, once again with the bar code, which is different. The only really noticable difference between the two is that, R9257 has silver handrails down the side of the locomotive boiler. The Ltd. Ed. has black Handrails. Both tenders have black handrails.Turning over the locos, the Ltd. Ed. does not have a copyright date, the other, R9257 has a date in white lettering. There is a very slight body colour difference, but reallyΒ is very minor.Hopefully the photos show slight differences.R9257 is on top above ltd. ed/media/tinymce_upload/8ec9421c75fac8029a84bdb87a7dbaf7.JPGΒ /media/tinymce_upload/f9f0ef459bbbadbba3151119ef2b5aec.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/c2233654a430ccf389b15256d18b6ddd.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/e738080da83d17c8fab79d006fd5d667.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/ec130d2c6bcc618a23118bcca9e0f5cf.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/2e029c7002b1a5420e7ebab0176da084.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/03867a4c986d884aeeca0300be85694e.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/3296b11077fdeabee2c05f1158d1d12c.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/3632faa3d09b8df13451bd40775c0aaf.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/5076de2008cbad4f4d9662655cac1256.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/44f8a1c5ed08a61c306bcd449d3b0d3d.JPG/media/tinymce_upload/1085f4da686ef97a70e65ee2aa4efba7.JPGΒ
NWR-Gordon-4
Thank you so much for the images, new lad on block. You are so good at these.Β πΒ R9749 Spencer (Limited Production) is my favourite out of the two, due to the more prominent black boiler handrails, even though they are incorrect in that colour.Β Between the two colours, I prefer the 2012 Spencer, but both colours are inoorect, as Spencer is actually sliver. Could you imagine Hornby releasing a locomotive painted sliver?! It would be a terrible colour and model!Β πΒ In fact. one does not need to imagine what a sliver Hornby locomotive would look, as we there's an image of a sliver locomotive; Hornby Spencer's prototype, used for both the 2008 and 2012 releases. I will post the prototype image below in another post, but I should think it will be a few days now, before the image will get approved by the adminstrator.Β It's a shame on the 2012 Spencer release, there's no 2012 copyright year printing on his chassis.Β I prefer the colour of the 2011 plus boxes. Standard box for Spencer, with a 'LIMITED PRODUCTION 1000' sleeve added on the right side of the box, looking at the box from the front. It's a shame Hornby did not release R9749 Spencer (Limited Production) in a new box, but I guess that would be too much work, also affecting the consumers' cost. Instead, Hornby printed 2,000 Limited Production sleeves; 1,000 of them for the boxes for R9749 Spencer (Limited Production) and 1,000 of them for boxes for R9750 Stepney (Limited Production).Β GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
