paulks
I have opened up my Castle Class (DCC Fitted) in order to upgrade to TTS Sound. The loco has 4 wires and the TTS Decoder has 8. I appreciate that the new decoder etc will need to be fitted in the tender however some advice on which wires connect to what would be useful. Many thanks. creilly81
Hi,is it a latest edition Hornby castle class with the decoder socket in the tender or is the decoder in the loco? If its in the tender there will be an 8 pin socket in there which will accept an 8 pin plug. 😉
Howbi
@paulks......if your Castle is a recent model the tender should look like this, showing the 8 pin socket and the round speaker mounting..........HB /media/tinymce_upload/9cc02b48bb61566a365b5e2517930e3e.png

Chrissaf
The 4 pin decoders use the same four colours as used by the 8 pin decoder for the same function..So....the four colours are red, black, orange and grey..Red is the right wheel pickupBlack is the left wheel pickupOrange is the right side motorGrey is the left side motor. So if the 4 wires are removed from the loco four pin connector and reterminated onto a 8 pin socket, then they would be terminated:.Red on pin 8Black on pin 4Orange on pin 1Grey on pin 5.Then if that is done, the 8 pin TTS plug should connect and provide the correct wired cross connections..Suitable 8 pin sockets that could be purchased for this modification../media/tinymce_upload/b37b5722372321a7488714538d4227d6.png.To extend 4 wires from the loco to the Tender (if you need to) you could adapt these to do it..X6113X9958.The Hornby standard for wiring these 4 way connectors is detailed below:./media/tinymce_upload/e3dd97f8d36f8fcbef87f8f9256cded4.jpg.
