jbcontrol
I have an old (well,I think it is old although it is in very good condition,R542 set) that I want to fit a decoder to. It is a tender driven loco. Am I right in thinking that I can just cut each brush feed wire and connect the wires from the decoder to these 4 wires that I now have. ??thanking you all for any comments. 96RAF
In principle the answer is yes.Once those wires are disconnected you need to ensure using a meter that there is no continuity between either motor brush and the wheels as some continuity can be via the motor housing into the chassis then to the wheels on one side. If there is a route you need to find and insulate the contact point. This may be the left hand brush screw or a contact pin under the brush retainer. jbcontrol
Thank you for the quick reply. I was wondering about that as the black wire is very short and connects to the motor frame/chassis. I will check that before anything elseJB
