peebeep
It's been confirmed that the Shropshire Scale Model Show that was due to take place on April 5th at Cosford has been cancelled.
Ratch
Shame, one of my favourite shows.
NWR-Gordon-4
Cancelled due to what, or has no reason for cancellation been provided? Probably has something to do with the Coronavirus, I imagine. GNR-Gordon-4 (AF)
peebeep
Cancelled due to what, or has no reason for cancellation been provided? The organisers have decided that as there is a possibility of a government ban on large gatherings in respect of COVID-19, that it would be best to cut their losses now and cancel the show. NWR-Gordon-4
I am surprised they cancelled a model show. I am sure it wouldn't have had as many attendees, as the Cheltenham Festival has and that still went ahead. GNR-Gordon-4 (AF)
Ratch
Its a very busy day Gordon. I wouldn't be surprised if attendance was in excess of 5,000.
NWR-Gordon-4
5,000 people under one roof is a lot of people, but it still is not as many as the Cheltenham Festival gets in attendance. GNR-Gordon-4 (AF)
peebeep
Shropshire Scale Modellers have to put up a lot of money in order to stage the show. As things stand they are able to refund traders who had already paid for their patch and probably cancel table hire and the venue without incurring too much cost. Regardless of the whys and wherefores (there's no point in debating it), there is a possibility that a ban on large gatherings might come into force in the coming weeks. I really don't blame them for pulling the plug on it sooner rather than later.
Ratch
Some pics of previous shows at Cosford.http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/19427478/360586903.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/19427478/360525739.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/19427478/360586897.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/19427478/360586890.jpghttp://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1312/4776356/19427478/312253628.jpgNot under one roof, but through three hangars. NWR-Gordon-4
@Paul Brown Well at least trders were able to get their money back. @Ratch Great pictures, Ratch. Thank you for posting them. 😉 😀 I don‘t know a massive amount about aircrafts, which may explain why I am asking this question; Are those aeroplanes really aircrafts or large real life scale kits, similar to what James May made with the help of other people, in his 2009 TV series, James May’s Toy Stories. Ratch
Cosford is an RAF Museum and James May's Spitfire was/is there in one of the hangars.https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/
NWR-Gordon-4
Oh cool. Thanks for that hyperlink, Ratch. 😉 😀 I did not realise the giant real life scale Airfix Spitkit kit, that created for his 'James May's Toy Stories' TV series, is still in existance. I thought it was dismantled, like the real life scale LEGO house was. GNR-Gordon-4 (AF)
Kerpert67
Is Cosford cancelled? I've just looked at the Cosford website and there's nothing on there about a cancellation.

Kerpert67
Well you seem convinced Paul, but I'm not. There are no notices of cancellation on Cosford's website, Facebook page or Twitter feed. Flightline doesn't have it listed either; RIAT & Farnborough are cancelled though.Where did you get your info?

peebeep
Well you seem convinced Paul, but I'm not. I was convinced by one of the club members who was party to the meeting where they decided to cancel. They've since posted up on Facebook and elsewhere their show posters with 'cancelled' writ large across them. I would not post anything like this on a whim, it's based on facts.
