Locomotive fitted uncouplers

Traviss Trains

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was wondering recently the possibilty of in the future buying a Hornby Pecket B2, for shunting purposes on my DCC Layout. But I was thinking would it be possible to fir the locomotive with on-board uncouplers so that I wouldn't have to use a (subjectivly somewhat) ungainly looking plastic piece on the track, and so I could uncouple around pointwork. My question is: is this possible? Is it possible to fit a small 0-6-0 with an on-board uncoupler? If anyone has any idea, that would be good thanks, and if any links on possibly where to buy the equipment and how/where/who to make this work?

Thanks,

Travis

I would like to do exactly the same thing.  I have been watching an item on eBay for months and months, unsure whether it was what I wanted.  It uses a piece of very thin cord to operate a Kadee.

Just type Remote Uncoupler for Kadee into a search engine, such as Google.

There is another method similar to the cord system referred to by RDS that uses memory wire, set up so that when the wire is energised it contracts and actuates the coupler. I am unable to unearth a direct link to the device at the moment, maybe it was in a small advert in the back of a magazine.
