Howbi
You have probably damaged the HST motor by running a DC loco on a DCC controller........HB
96RAF
I agree. Never put a DC loco on a DCC track, unless you enjoy changing motors.
Chrissaf
Let me just fill in a bit of detail..OL on the Select means OverLoad. This is the Select telling you that it is seeing a 'short circuit' on the track..As others have said, in all likelihood you have burnt out the DC motor in your loco. The windings have over-heated and burnt through their insulation covering. This causes the motor to present a 'short circuit' to the controller. Your loco now needs a new motor or the old motor to be re-wound. Just because the Hornby Select instructions state that you can control a single DC Analogue loco using the Select controller. The 'small print' in the Hornby manual also says, that the practice is not recommended. Always install a DCC decoder to an Analogue loco before running it on a DCC track ... the decoders are a lot cheaper than replacing the motor..If you leave a DC loco stationary on a DCC powered track, burning out the motor is inevitable..Many manufacturers are removing this Analogue feature from their controllers because of the motor damage it causes,.If you want to read more historical information on this topic, it is explained here:https://sites.google.com/site/markgurries/home/technical-discussions/dc-loco-on-dcc.TIP: As a newbie poster on the forum, just be aware that the 'Blue Button with the White Arrow' is not a 'Reply to this post' button.
