Class 67
Hello, I recently bought a class 67 DCC fitted R2522 but when I gave it a test, it seemed to slightly stutter. My other locos work fine on the track so I don't think that it is a problem with the track. The stuttering is also in a regular pattern not like you would see if the signal was being interrupted by dirty track. The stuttering is very slight and hard to notice. I have heard that it may be a problem with the decoder or a loose drive shaft. I havent taken it apart yet as I dont want to damage it accidentally. Chrissaf
R2522 is listed as 'DCC Ready' for 8 pin decoders. So what decoder has been fitted for you ... brand and model?.Also what DCC Controller are you using ... brand and model?.TIP: As a newbie poster on the forum, just be aware that the 'Blue Button with the White Arrow' is not a 'Reply to this post' button. Class 67
Hi, I am not exactly sure which decoder is fitted as I bought this second hand but I will check with the seller. I am. using a Hornby Select controller running version 1.1.
96RAF
Your Select being at such an old revision state will not help, as the more recent the revision the more decoders it will properly support. Also at that revison your Select cannot change any CVs other than address and accel/decell values, so you are advised to call Hornby Custome Care and arrange to have it updated for a cost of around £18. Chrissaf
In answer to my questions:.What Rob said........but with this extra detail from my boilerplate text..The current installed firmware is displayed as the very first number to briefly appear on the Select screen as it is being powered up. Expect to see a number between 10 and 20. At the time of writing, the latest version is 1.6 [16] or 2.0 [20] - both the same. These latest versions completely transform the user experience of the Select controller and add the ability to write (not read) all CVs up to CV255. As well as access to the full F0 - F28 range of functions..The upgrade charge is typically £15 plus VAT [£18] plus your sending postage costs. You need to get a 'returns number' from Hornby Customer Services - see 'Contact Us' link at the very bottom of the page..If you do arrange to get your Select firmware upgraded, then you will need both the Select version 1.5 full manual and the version 1.6 addendum manual. As the operation of your Select (how to use it) will be completely different in certain areas of operation compared to your current firmware version..You can download these two manual PDFs from here:https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/downloads/view/index/cat/12/.If nothing appears to happen, check your nominated browser download folder for the files as they can download silently in the background. Howbi
Service Sheet 290D might help. Would be worth checking continuity from each wheel through it's pick-up back to the PCB and relevant pins in the DCC socket..........HB
ellocoloco
I agree with HB above. I have had similar symptoms caused by a broken wire to one of the bogie pick ups in a diesel but remaining close enough to move in and out of contact as the locomotives moves along the (clean) track. Worth a check before you replace/remove decoder or upgrade your Select (which is a good suggestion).
