Mar Mallard
Hi, I have bought a lovely West Country Class but cab ladder snapped and broken piece got lost. Where on earth could I find a replacement and would removing old ladder cause more damage? Thanks, Chris
threelink
I had a similar problem on a BR1b tender and dug out from the spares box an old Airfix kit tender on which the steps were an exact match, so sliced off a step and substituted it for the broken step using superglue. If you have an old Airfix BoB lying about you may be able to do the same. Alternatively you may be able to find a brass signal ladder of the right dimensions to provide a match. Good luck with the repair!

Lyd 85B
I've fabricated similar items using sprue and unused parts from plastic kits, but my best results have come from styrene section, such as Evergreen or Plastruct, using a solvent like Plastic Weld. Once spray-painted they are a very close match to the original.
