Mallard R3395TTS going too fast.

This is commonly reported issue. The only fix found so far is to completely remove the loco from the RailMaster rosta then add it again from scratch. You may have to do this more than once, eventually the loco will react normally to the RailMaster commands.

Also, do I have to set the sounds or should it have done that automatically when programmed?

For this comment and also the main reported issue, it may be that you are not using the most optimum method of adding a loco. If the loco is in the Database, then the sounds should populate the 'Function List' in RailMaster.

Further 'How To' guidance, these following threads cover the main aspects of adding and configuring locomotives in RailMaster.

For no loco found in the database, you need to follow the Tutorial for 'Manually Adding a Loco'.

I have just purchased a Mallard R3395TTS and set it on the programming track and it programmed ok. I put it on the main track and when it started it was going way too fast, I reduced the cruising speed to 70KPH and shunting speed to 5KPH. But the loco goes at full speed and I cannot reduce the speed at all.

Also, do I have to set the sounds or should it have done that automatically when programmed? They work ok in test.

Thank you for your help, it took 4 attempts at deleting and installing before it finally programmed ok and all sounds were allocated correctly, speed control is working also.

My Flying Scotsman keeps derailing for no apparent reason, even when the Mallard was going flat out it did not derail at all. I have tried adding a small lead weight but that made no difference, it usually derails at points but not always the same one.

Check the back to back dimension of the front bogie using a proper gauge or digital calipers. A rule is not accurate enough. Some folk add weight to the bogie, others fit a small spring which you can pinch out of an old biro and asjust to length. Check also that the tender is not lifting the front of the loco - it doesn’t need much to upset the running and affect grip.

And Pedro, just a tip for the future - adding a derailing problem to your RM installation thread is not the way to get the best advice. A new thread in General with a heading like Flying Scotsman Derailing Issue would be much better. In this instance you've been lucky that Rob noticed your complete change of topic after Chris solved your original issue.
