Reverse Loop Control (Alternative to Hornby R8238 options)

Hi, I am busy with my first DCC layout. I need the install Two reverse loop controls. one for the Turntable and one for a reverse loop.

I have been studying al I can find and it apppears the Hornby R8238 is no longer available, nothin on eBay either. on the web I've looked at the Gaugemaster DCC40 Prodigy Auto Reveres Loop Module and a few others, the information states the DCC40 is not compatible with Hornby Elite. They mention the Bachmann but even that is hard to find.

Has anyone had any experience with using other reverseloop controller systems or can offer me any advice on how to resolve.

@Grooteman

I have removed the duplicate post you added to the end of another thread, as it gets confusing when the same question is asked in 2 places.  Also, the title of this new thread that you have raised, describes better the particular question you are asking.

I cannot answer your question but hopefully someone will be along soon that has experience of other Reverse Loop modules.

Are you certain you need an RLM on your TT?

In general, and assuming you have done a best practice mod to your TT for DCC, you will only need one if you have more than one connection to the layout from your TT. And then only if one or more of the outlet connections are at opposite polarity (more correctly phase) to the input connnection.

I'm sure Chris will be along soon with his recommended RLM, he's mentioned it on here many times. He can and probably will also refer you to previous detail on correct setup and explain mine above further if needed.

My 'Reverse Loop Module' Tutorial Guide gives a selection of RLM product alternatives to the R8238 in Section 7.0 of the PDF document. It can be downloaded here:

I use the TamValley DFJ003 (Dual Frog Juicer switched to RLM operating mode) configured to a trip current of 1.7 Amps and find it works effortlessly & reliably with my Elite controller & 4 amp power supply. Details of the TamValley are in section 7.0 of my PDF.

If you are using the Hornby R070 TT, then it may be possible, subject to where it is being installed in your layout design to modify it in such a way that using a RLM for it does not become a requirement. These previous threads give details of the forum developed mod.
