T2B
This is my latest creation, the RN Phantom FG.1 with the extended nose leg and displayed on a Carrier Deck base ready for catapult launch!
Model Making Madness
Wow that look amazing, I have always wanted to see a phantom on display like this. Also how did you make the catapult diorama as I would love to try and replicate
T2B
Thanks MMM. It took me a couple of weeks just to get this 1 image loaded and now I'm getting the usual 'Snap - something went wrong' error message but I will continue to try as a picture is worth a thousand words. The diorama base is the Italeri Carrier Deck Section and a selection of figures from the Italeri NATO Modern figure set. Rather than waffle on I can answer further questions if you are interested?

Pretty Mediocre Modeller
Really nice build, great diorama, and love the smoke. That batsman is in for a shock when the Phantom launches though, unless he moves to the other side of the red and white line!Who else thinks that Airfix should kit that plane guard Wessex, that has photo bombed the box art of both the RN Phantom and Buccaneer? T2B
Thanks DD & PMM.And yes I'd noticed the Wessex in both the Phantom and Bucc S.2C boxing so hope Airfix see the light and release it soon before I have to resort to a kit from It 🤔? Kenneth ONeill
Absolutely; take a tip from the M*tchb*x kit and make the engine cover separate, and you can make most main variants using one fuselage and interior.
T2B
Sorry Kenneth is that in relation to the Phantom or Wessex, seems a little criptic?
Kenneth ONeill
The Wessex; I've never seen a Phantom kit tooled up with separate engine cowls!

Ian Jones1707820036
Yes I'd love to see a Westland Wessex (and a Whirlwind too), but Airfix are a business and if they invested resources in those new moulds I'd bet that the other manufacturers would re-issue their kits. Far better to produce something where their are no or only very poor kits available. I'll give you a new mould Belvedere for starters.
