Brew Man
This is a question I have meant to ask a few times but have kept forgetting. When two or more Locos form a consist how are the varying speeds of each loco managed by the controller? or aren't they? If they are not managed I can imagine a lot of tugging and pushing going on. As we know different locos' motors will rotate/travel at different speeds on any given speed setting. Thanks for any insight.
Rog RJ
It's best to start with two models that already have similar performance. You then need to alter various CVs to bring them as close as possible. You need to slow the top speed of the fastest loco down to match the top speed of the slowest loco. Then match the start speeds, mid speeds and acceleration.Obviously you need to use decoders that support the required CVs, the basic Hornby decoders don't.I think railmaster can do the matching in software. Brew Man
Yes, the Elite user guide suggests equalising acceleration and deceleration, but as you say that's only part of the solution. Slightly tedious and you need to really want a consist.
Rog RJ
Indeed, its not as easy as it first appears and can take some time to get right.
Brew Man
It didn't even appear easy at first to me, mainly because of this issue. thinking_face
