Shoeburyness Fat Boy
What sound decoder chip do I need to fit sound in a Hornby R3151X Class 08 Shunter 08129 in BR Blue that I have recently bought. Having opened it up I can see how it is achieved. It says DCC fitted so it must be able to be done, but with so little space I am baffeld. It came out around 2013 I believe so may not be possible. RDS
@GrahamModerator Note:Could you please select the 'View my Community’ in your Dashboard on the Forum and choose a nickname in the ‘My profile' tab, rather than your First name that has been automatically allocated by the system. Hopefully a Forum change is coming soon to prevent this automatic allocation but a manual change is required at the moment and there will be more than one member with your name. This request together with some other information for new posters is contained in a thread at the top of the General Discussion section called ‘Information for new members registering for the Forum’
Chrissaf
This recent thread might offer some clues. Not your specific model, but still a DCC fitted Class 08 upgrade to sound.https://uk.hornby.com/community/forum/adding-tts-sound-to-mixed-freight-set?ccm_paging_p=
96RAF
Compare the service sheets for the three basic model variants, DCC-Fitted with 8-pin socket, Sound-Fitted with earlier 21-pin decoder and TTS-Fitted with current 8-pin decoder. The standard speaker is a small rectangular one fitted in front of the radiator.
