SD45elect2000
I took this outside to photograph, too many shadows I think.Anyhow, I kinda got a thing for black airplanes.I have about 1/2 dozen of these to do, maybe one of them will turn out the way I want it to.I’ve said it before, build a group and they do get better right?Randall
SD45elect2000
These come with the Swordfish kits. They make neat little models.Randall
DoubleD
Very nice Randall - what do you use for rigging?
SD45elect2000
Rigging is SBS models from Hungary. Etched stainless steel. It easy to use , drill holes and slip them in. There are two different sizes of wire , evidently not all the wires are the same width.Randall
paul71
the black swordfish looks good like it in a dull black, the shadows give the pictures a different dimension all together, gives it a more natural look.

Thanks Paul, it currently looks like I’m building 6 more Swordfish. Waiting for more materials to arrive. I also have a decal set coming and I think there might be another black one. Dominic Thomas
I was holding back my admiration of the black finish until I had seen the reply to DoubleD’s rigging question. However, as I have the floor, can we please see some pix of the ‘grey’ Swordfish?
SD45elect2000
I did reply to he rigging question but it has not been approved yet.I will post the other Swordfish when it’s done, but here’s a teaser

Dominic Thomas
I really like those inter-war finishes, and you have a particularly good example there. Thank you for sharing.
SD45elect2000
Keeping with my FAA theme, I wanted a different paint scheme and a slightly different Spitfire/Seafire.These are 1/72 KP models, the decals were not that good. and I got a whole bunch of leftover parts. SD45elect2000
Another 'new tool' Swordfish, Randall - looks good. Thank you Ratch. I love these kits. I am looking for a way to buy or make the long exhaust pipes. I have several decals that require them, I think that would look interesting. SD45elect2000
Another newer tooled Swordfish. Any feedback on my treatment of the exhaust cowling ring ?Randall
Sailorman
If you are after the porcupine exhausts then Pavia Moels make them specifically for the airfix 1:72 kit.
SD45elect2000
Another for the evening. These models were more or less done save for the rigging I was waiting for. I have 2 more waiting for rigging and two under construction. Randall
Dominic Thomas
Very well done, again. I think I’ll save a set of compliments for use each time you post. It’ll save me typing 😀A couple of comments on the colours: the cowling ring looks good to me. There was quite a discussion on this a while back here with reference to a 1940 Blenheim. I guess that’s disappeared now with the site changes unfortunately. which paint did you use for the Cerrux Grey of the inter-war models?and what colour did use for the tyres (tires)?Keep up the good work and thanks again for sharing. Thank you Dominic ! I was a participant in the cowling discussion that’s why I’ve been trying to perfect the “look”.I’ve been using layers of Alclad paint to get a different look. The grey is some old model master aircraft grey. In the bottle it has a blue tint that is very close to cerrux grey but the blue tint seems to disappear and flatten out after completion of the model. The tires are AK interactive rubber color. The next two Swordfish are interwar planes then after that two wartime machines. I am debating if I shoud buy a few more, a decision made easier by Patrick I do want a white Swordfish but the only decals I have include the long porcupine exhaust pipe. The question is how many more do I want? All of the models to date have been Airfix kit decals, I haven’t even started on my decal stash yet ! I think I have enough decals for another 11 Swordfish and I have materials coming to do the two that are under construction and 4 additional . SD45elect2000
Evidently the Pavla parts are no longer available as near as I can find. It seems that Pavla is no more.it may be that the older Airfix kits had the part, I’m tempted to get one.Randall
SD45elect2000
Just another Swordfish , ho hum right?I got enough aftermarket parts to do 9 more, I really want a white one. what do you think ?Randall
SD45elect2000
This one was supposed to be a Seafire but I used the wrong kit fuselage. This one fought me endlessly, It nearly got tossed more than once. I wanted something a different color.Randall
