Ratch
In line with the current trend, a full set of stencils is provided. For the meticulous this is essential to the finish of the aircraft. For the casual builder they will be unnecessary. Many are so small that those with failing eyesight will struggle to determine which is the correct orientation for them. Whether to apply all, some, or none of them is down to the individual and how they wish to finish their model. At least there is the choice for all modellers. Ratch
It doesn't look very different, but I think I have all the stencils on the main airframe now.
Ratch
I added the load to the wings and painted the extra stores for spares. Everything was then airbrushed again with Klear; the main airframe to seal the decals, and the spare stores to give the gloss foundation for their decals. Ratch
Thanks Ralph.I painted the lens reflectors on the TV Martel Anti-shipping Missiles, then fixed the lenses with PVA. Decals should be applied before the pylons are attached. They were applied to the spare stores using Microset. There are insufficient markings to cover all the load options, so, if you choose to apply them, ensure your load is fully marked before applying to other variants. SD45elect2000
The details really make the model don't they?Randall
Ratch
They certainly do Ralph/Drawing to the close of the build, I now airbrushed my usual varnish of matt with a drop of Klear, that I think just takes the edge off a dead flat finish. With this done I could return to steps 102 and 136 and fix the navigation light lenses.ConclusionThis is undoubtedly a state-of-the-art replacement for Airfix’s 1995 kit. The detail is excellent, and the engineering is superb too. All the extras such as the ladder and FOD guards are exquisite enhancements. With excellent fitting parts, this is a winner. Highly recommended.

Dominic Thomas
Ratch, you certainly have. But it will have to wait as ‘er-in-doors’ seized it for a Christmas present. So, I’ll follow your advice and make an attempt on the old one first. While I tend to make several of one type in 1//72, the 1/48’s are just too big to make several for me anyway. Virginia Matt
Thanks for sharing the build! Excellent work! I’ve always loved the brute-like curves of the Buccaneer (among British types the Buccaneer and Canberra are my personal favorites). Though not in my preferred scale of 1/72, I really am thankful that Airfix is producing state of the art kits in 1/48 as it showcases the firm’s design talent. I do have their new tool Bucc in 1/72 so I hope to get to that at some point. Again, superb model!Matt
