Hornby updated firmware select controller CV writing?

The Select at firmware revision 1.6 and above can write to all 255 CV's of the majority of decoders. There do however seem to be some odd decoders that appear (according to posts on this forum) to be problematic, but this is not a widespread issue.

What the Select can not do is read the value of a CV.

The 1.6 and above Select firmware can control all functions required to fully support TTS decoders.

Adding 'stay alives' is a decoder specific feature rather than a controller specific one. The issue with after market 'stay alives' with many controllers is that they can affect CV programming because they absorb all the power from the 'PROG' output. This is where the Select has a benefit, because the Select programmes on its track output which is powered, thus there is power to keep the 'stay alive' charged during the programming task. Thus 'stay alive' equipped decoders should, in theory, programme more reliably with the Select.

There is a FAQ in the DCC FAQ sticky that details how to add a 'stay alive' to Hornby decoders, including TTS ones.
