Dodge1965
I'm pretty sure i've seen something about this and tried a search in the Forum, but nothing.Which loco's can take stay alive in the TT range?Sorry if this has been covered.
Fishmanoz
All HM7000 decoders can be fitted with the power bank, so all locos. That said, there may be an issue with room on the 08 and other 0-6-0s when released. Will be interesting to see as these are the ones most likely to need it. Paulchik
Just a thought regarding smaller locos such as 0-6-0’sthinking back I’m sure I saw the possibility to run an extension from a decoder to a slave socket stored in an attached wagonyes it has disadvantages such as wires on show and the attached wagon has to been continuously connected to the locoBut is this an option for Stay a Live and or sound for smaller Locos ? 96RAF
Best of luck self wiring terminals onto wires to fit those tiny stay alive and speaker plugs and sockets. I gave up and went for pre-wired items.
david_watts1
Using a wagon as a permanent 'tender' for a small locos speaker and stay alive is a possibility, the wires should be long enough. I'd replace the couplings with something permanent just to be on the safe side. The wires are very delicate.EDIT: I forgot they're using 6 pin in the 08 shunter and not a N18. Fishmanoz
Agreed about wiring N18 plugs and sockets Rob but what about attaching a 6-pin plug to the 8TXS?There’s still the problem of getting it to fit given that extra piece of real estate on the sound PCB but it might be a possibility. 96RAF
Here are the respective decoder boards for comparison Fishy.Do you think you could hook up a 6-pin header to the 8-pin sound board to get a sound decoder for use in the small locos. This is the 8-pin version of the 6-pin (same PCB)Next 18S below. And the 8-pin TXS sound version - same board as Next 18S
david_watts1
Does anyone do a 6pin male to 8pin female conversion plug/wire/socket? I see DCC Concepts do a 8pin male to 6 pin female lead. Then you could put the chip, speaker and stay alive all in the 'tender' wagon.
Fishmanoz
You’re right Rob, solder pads don’t appear to be big enough or in the right place, so not practical.
TT-Man
Always seems to be the way. The models that need a stay alive aren't capable of having one fitted. These days it's something that really should be sorted at the design stage. Given the marvels you see in N and Z, I don't see why it's not possible in TT. M. Matthews
This is a question that I asked on their last TT120 live stream. The answer that I got was pretty inconclusive. At about 01:
