Hi. You need the HM7000 TXS sound decoders to work with the app and get sounds. These link to your phone/tablet via Bluetooth. At the moment, if you want HM7000, you will have to open up the models and fit the decoder yourself.

For TT120 you generally need the R7345 HM7000 N18TXS decoder. The exception is the new Class 08, which is now being delivered, for which no HM7000 decoder is available until later this year - and these will not have sound as there is no room inside for the larger sound decoders. Pre-fitted locomotives with sound out of the box should start being available in the summer. No HM7000 decoders without sound are currently available.

The DCC HM7000 sub forum has a lot more information.

To be pedantic, the sounds aren't strictly free. When you purchase a HM7000 TXS sound decoder, the cost of the decoder includes a financial element to cover the cost of the sound files. You cannot download any sound files via the APP unless there is an asscociated TXS decoder paired via Bluetooth to the APP. So you have to purchase a TXS decoder to access the sounds.

If, in the future, you were to purchase a 'TXS sound' factory fitted locomotive then that locomotive is expected to ship with the appropriate Class of sounds pre-installed. Again as part of the purchase price paid. But you could (your choice) over-write the factory installed sounds with something else once the loco TXS decoder is paired to the APP. Not that I would expect anybody would.

For clarity :

HM7000 is the name given to the Bluetooth decoder range, with TXS being the suffix for the sound variants.

HM | DCC is the name given to the app that runs the decoders. The whole system is colloquially known as HM7K.

Similarly HM | DC the analogue version of the system is known as HM6K and the associated operating hardware modules are HM6000 to run locos and HM6010 to run accessories.

The HM6010 module can also be used to run accessories with HM7K or from a standard DCC controller.

Valid point Paul and fellow club member 😁 but you can have as many sounds as you like though!

But only one sound set is active and will delete any sounds the new install over-writes. So you are paying to use one sound set only, but can change which one it is multiple times.

P.S - I don't subscribe to any clubs, whether they be Hornby's or not. stuck_out_tongue thumbsup
