Updating my Elite 1.41 via Mac OSX ??

Can I download the firmware update by plugging my Elite into a usb port on my Mac ??

 

Given my Elite is new and had to come on back order from Hornby on wonders why it had 1.3 loaded anyway ??

the 1.41 upgrade comes as an exe that you need to run on windows.

 

Options would seem to be to boot the mac into windows or borrow a friends pc:-)

This is a shortsighted approach. Come on Hornby get your act together and fix this problem by making firmware update on Macs.

PAC, methinks, you are in for a long wait. Its not a Hornby fix, as Railmaster run by different company, and this is not the first time, this has been raised, without success.

John, this is asking about Elite firmware rather than RM. Either way, it’s a .exe file that has to run under Windows or a Mac emulating Windows.

I assume if is anything like the software I worked on, you can probably get the update to work on a Windows emulation running on a MAC, it is when it tries to write the data to the communications port. To write to the USB port it probably uses a Windows .dll file that links the software to the operating system and computer hardware, they don't work too well on a windows emulation. I thought I did read on here someone did get it to work, but I might be wrong
