gilbo2
One of my accessory decoders has stopped working. Looking at any cv they are all coming back as 255. Have reset the unit setting cv8 to 8 but this makes no difference. I assume it is dead and needs returning to Hornby for repair? If so, how long does that normally take? Fishmanoz
Sounds like you are right. 255 means it is not getting a return from the decoder. Sorry, no idea how long for Hornby to repair or replace under warranty if less than 12 months old.
Gregd99
just a suggestion..... I have had a problem using a DC power clip causing reads from CVs to return 255 due to the cap in the power clip. did you change your power clip recently by any chance? Thanks for the suggestion, I don't use power clips everything is soldered up to the pad's screw terminals. I have a "bank" of 7 pad's and its just the one that has died. Fishmanoz
There were clearly some reliability problems with the 8247s a few months ago from the reports in the forums. Makes me wonder if the lack of supply now is just that, or if Hornby decided to withdraw a faulty batch to cause the problem.
