poliss
Did anyone see it? Loads of early Hornby. Near mint in boxes, still with tissue paper. Also Bassett Lowke and a maker I've never hear of, The Leeds Model Company.
Graskie
My wife called me down to watch that. What wonderful stuff. I don't know about near mint, but some of it had apparently not seen the light of day since first boxed until it was actually opened on the programme. Basset Lowke were in fact a local Northampton firm, of course.
Tony57
Hi I saw the item, don't think the bloke knew what he had there, all O guage clockwork in pristine condition. £10k is a conservative estimated value, the mint condition of boxes are what the collectors will bid for, as well as the contents they contain should the collection be sold on. Bulleidboy
I just watched it on the i-player. Very interesting, as you say "opened on the programme" - it hadn't seen light of day for seventy years. I would think that if sold, it would best done by a specialist auction house, and as a collection. A number of the coaches looked as though they made up a rake, it would be a pity to split them up.
