JeremiahBunyan
Hey, Over the years Hornby has released some lovely wagons that have been close the the hearts of the modelers. Can Hornby produce these models again to a modern standard? See the list below.... - BIRDS EYE CLOSED VANhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=236 - DURACEL TANK WAGONhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=607 - RED ARROWS LWB SUPPORT VANhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=605 - KIT KAT CLOSED VANhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=187 - WEETABIX CLOSED VANhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=186 - BIRDS VANhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=199 - BAXTERS CLOSED VANhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=225 - WIMPY CLOSED VANhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=220 - COLGATE 5-PLANK WAGONhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=192 - POLO TANK WAGONhttp://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=
Postman Prat
Most Hornby wagons are in desperate need of an update. However, to waste effort in producing a range of wagons in such ridiculous liveries will achieve nothing, so far as the serious modeller is concerned. Disagree, there will be a whole lot of people (be it serious modellers or anyone) who will buy it for the fun of it or out of nostalgia. Hornby has sold a ton of fiticious stuff and people have bought it simply because it's different. There's much much more to model railways than just the serious modeller and if it's in the RailRoad range I don't see why not. At the most the wagons can just do with a coupling upgrade. But if it's for the RailRoad range then that won't matter.
LCDR
Although I don't buy them myself I can agree that these fictitious liveries are indeed popular, and there is ancient precedence. Hornby in pre-war tin-plate produced a whole range of vans in colourful traders livery and these command high prices second hand. So much so that there is a thriving business in counterfeit liveries applied to ordinary vans by unscrupulous so called 'enthusiasts' which collectors have to be alert to. Modern plastic ones don't seem to have reached this level of collectability - yet - but who knows what will be in years to come. However Lima used to do this a lot, and they sell for pennies at toy fairs.
LCDR
/media/tinymce_upload/ac8bc5269d036167a18b3c21ddd41372.JPG These on the other hand are genuine modern O gauge 'NeverWazzers' made by a humourist O Gauger who loves a pun. None of the liveries ever appeared as part of the original Hornby range . The Cadbury's Smash van is one of my favourites! The picture is worth a little bit of study. choralc
Not because I have 90% of the above list but there is something nostalgic and fun for someone to see these trundling around and make a connection."Wimpey burgers? Isn't that what one of the characters in Popeye eat?""Mmmm, I feel like a break! Where's a KitKat when you want one?" and so on.

dynax
I have a few of the older liveried stock, they're quite common on ebay, it might be an idea for hornby to produce some unpainted wagons, then people could do their own liveries, also unpainted coaches too, i'm currently repainting some triang pullman coaches into a variation of blue pullman stock based on the VSOE, the livery i'm doing does not exist anywhere and is my own interpretation of other liveries in one,Mike.
