  1. I agree with you, I remember when stands were included. Airfix should update their instructions if they’re no longer available. I recently purchased a Jet Provost set from Aldi and the instructions state the AF1006 stand to be purchased separately, which I believed to be available from Airfix / Hornby.
  2. Hi Colin, Got it on order, but surface stock would be great. I would love to see Dreadnought stock with the H2 too. Regards, Andrew.
  3. Unfortunately, I'm completely unskilled in making and painting these sort of models and would probably ruin it. Which is why I ask for ready to run A Stock trains.
  4. Cheers Bill, I have managed to get them to stay on the track ! Being profiled wheels they are so sensitive to track and track sections. I found one derailed when passing across a right hand curved point; the outside blade was only extremely slightly out of alignment with the rail. It looked with in tolerance spec too. Changing it for an old Hornby curved point, no problem. Derailing also occurs if the rails where connected appear to be in alignment, but similar to the point the bounce off. I will try though to get old wheels though. Thanks, Andrew
  5. I would love to see A, C or D Surface Stock. Especially, the Metropolitan Line sets. I think there would be a call for it and would sell pretty well.
  6. @LC&DR I agree. When I saw the cover of the catalogue from a couple of years ago, it showed a Lord Nelson with CIWL Wagon Lits coaches. I was hoping they would have been in there only to be disappointed. With the concentration of Southern locos and stock over the last few years, would as you say make a splendid set of the Night Ferry. Moderator message: Rew, you will get better results if you completely ignore the blue box button. LC&DR's post had an invisible historical image in it. Thus your three attempts to reply using the blue button ended up in the 'image approval queue'. Two of the duplicates were approval rejected for which you should receive and email informing you of that. The third [this post] was 'approved' but edited to remove the corrupted re-quote. It is just not necessary to re-quote every single post you reply to [as I have noticed you do] using the blue button, especially when your reply is directly below the post you are re-quoting. And as you have just found out, re-quoting a post with an image [even one you cannot see] just delays your reply appearing. It is far better to just scroll down to the page bottom and write your reply in the 'Reply Text Box' starting your reply with @usename if you want to bring your reply to the attention of a specific forum member.
  7. @Tony57 I agree, installing the the operating ramps into modern track for the Mail Coach is awkward and I've found part of the sleeper needs to be trimmed to fit. I also find that sometimes they act as an uncoupling ramp and half the train becomes a slip coach !
  8. @Bill7437 Cheers Bill, The wheels also look smaller in diameter and appear out of place. Would Hornby OO wheel-sets fit, or would I have to find older Lima wheels? Thanks for your help.
  9. Does anyone here have recently purchased Lima Expert or modern Lima items? If so, how deep are the flanges on the wheels? I recently purchased the new Australian NSW TAM Coaches, codes HL4010, HL4011 and HL4012. They are a re-issue of the old NSW prodcued by Lima in the early 90's. The flanges on the wheels are less than 1 mm in depth and they keep bouncing off especially on curves. Have they had the wrong wheels fitted or these the flange depths of modern HO rolling stock? Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Andrew
  10. With help from Hornby, I have managed to alter the coupling on the rear of the tender with a standard European coupling. Knowing the tender coupling was NEM, a spare coupling had been supplied with the TAM coaches, but no information with the coaches to explain why. It was quite simple to change. Remove the base plate to reveal the coupling. Slide out the NEM coupling housing and swap over, replace and reverse the process to fit. Heights were perfect.
  11. In my experience, especially with earlier China coaches, the back to backs seem to be wider, causing them to bind on curves and derail. I've had Stanier,Mk 1's, Mk 4's and Mk 3's which have had this problem. Swapping them out for newer sets had solved it.
  12. I recently have taken delivery of the Australian Pacific 3806, which is a lovely model. However it has been advertised with Lima reissue New South Wales TAM coaches HL4010, HL4011, HL4012. Which are also lovely vehicles. However the loco is an Australian Modellers model and has a Kadee knuckel type coupling on the tender instead of the standard european couplings found on many HO models. Thus not being able to couple. It appears not to be NEM either. Has anyone else had one of these and did it come with a European coupling or knuckle type?
