  1. Hi All - Apologies if this is the wrong place for this but I'm setting up my TXS decoder in an 08 shunter (I'm using DCC EX for control) and when using Engine Driver the AFC Enable option doesn't show up in the options on my mobile (it does for my other locos) Is it possible there is one too many entries in the profile list (see link below) or am I missing something? If I take out the Multiple Whistle options I then get the AFC enable at the end. Class 08 Profile
  2. I think I've found part of the answer....I've found the rating of the outputs to be Analogue 14VDC so can calculate the resistor value.
  3. Further question: When driving LEDS via the TXS decoder do I need a current limiting resistor? Thanks
  4. Very useful thanks. I may come back with more questions but work is getting in the way.
  5. Hello Everyone. I'm trying to work out if it is possible to drive (both logically and electrically) loco directional lights (such as for a class 47) from one of the TXS decoders Looking at the function map I believe this should be possible and if it is how do you wire these into the decoder? Do you need resistors? If anyone has done this I would appreciate learning from your experiences! Thanks Dave
  6. Because that was for the benefit of those who had assisted me trying to resolve the decoder programming issue but this was meant to be of help to those who may be considering the purchase of the loco and decoder. My apologies if it is seemed as a major issue but I genuinely had others in mind
  7. I am going to investigate this option as it seems "less drastic". If I get it to work I will update the thread so anyone else in the same position can benefit.
  8. Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this combination? I'm having an issue with the physical fit of the board in that it is not secure and tilts up (see photo) It's been suggested I cut away some of the fouling areas on the loco but with it being brand new I'm worried I won't make a good job of that and mess up the warranty Is there such a thing as 21 Pin riser boards? I've googled but not found anything yet,
  9. So I thought I would post an update on this so others could share from my stupidity The simple answer is I had installed the decoder upside down in the Caerphilly Castle/ To me this was a logic thing to do because upside down it fitted snugly and the right way up it was loose and contacts are intermittent. A big thanks to George (as well as my apologies for wasting his time) at Hornby. What is amazing is - apart from the loose fit when the right way up - it now works! Hopefully I can do something to overcome the loose fitting (see photo-ignore red arrows)
  10. Thank you everyone for your tips - duly noted
  11. SCARM shows about 132 mm between tracks where I have placed the platform which should be enough but is it too much? Ta
  12. Platform track geometry question: If I was to but Hornby straight platforms (E,g, R460) what would be the track spacing I would need to make these work without fouling the trains? I've attached the sort of thing I am think of. This is obviously not a full layout! Thanks
  13. Many thanks - I will wait until they are back in operation and then contact them (last time I tried I got an out of office reply)
  14. A big thanks for sticking with this. I tried everything you suggested and I have read the troubleshooting guide including the bit about power cycling the device 3 times (and I've power cycled the mobile as you suggested). The decoder now shows up in linkable devices but still needs the two updates. When I try the update I immediately get the following error:
  15. Firstly happy new year everyone Thanks for this. Back at home now. I tried pressing the reset button (which ive shown below) but it only let me press once so what am i missing ? As is probably obvious this is the android app.
  16. Many thanks fir this - it's going to be a couple of days before I can try it. One question (this is probably obvious to everyone else but me!) "is the reset button in the app or physical on the board?" My decoder is showing in the "linkable devices2 section rather than the "resettable devices" hence the question Many thanks
  17. That is curious. When attempting this I'm sat about 1 meter from the master wifi access point and the battery on the mobile is at 85% (the max I will let it charge to). I've followed the exact same process I needed to when I updated the 8 pin decoders. Investigations continue - thanks for coming back to me so quickly
  18. Thanks for that amazingly quick reply. That has changed things = I now see the decoder as a linkable device saying the bluetooth firmware and the APROM firmware require an update. However when I try and do the update it fails immediately with "an error has occurred preparing update". If I retry the update exactly the same thing happens. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
  19. HI, I have now bought 3 of the TXS decoders - 2x8 pin with both work fine and 1x21 which I am having problems with. When I go through the "link device" process on my Samsung S23 Ultra mobile (which worked fine for the other decoders) it finds the 21pin decoder as a resettable device but when I select the option to "reset device" it fails with "error resetting device". this is a brand new decoder which I ordered about a week ago. I have googled this and searched this forum but can't find any suggestions - can anyone help please? I'm attempting to use it in a Caerphilly Castle hornby loco r30328 Thanks in advance Dave
  20. All, since joining this forum I have never received any email notifications to advise me threads that I start/contribute to have been update. Is his normal behaviour Yes I have checked in my spam folder :) Regards
  21. Many thanks - I did try the power off/wait/on/rescan but it didn't work so next stop is CS Thanks again
  22. Many thanks - what information do I need to give them? I'm asking because the only chance I will probably have to ring them is during office hours and I won't have my layout to hand (although that is tempting to bring it in!)
  23. I have a situation where I need to relink a decoder (I've started a separate thread on this) and it is prompting for a code which I don't have any more. Does the process of contacting customer services involve returning the decoder to Hornby? This was brand new when purchased so isn't someone else's cast off
