  1. I would reccomend Hornby's HM2000 controller. It has 2 control dials with their own switches, so you can control 2 trains at once, and will supply power for point motors ect. as well should you put them in.
  2. I model a heritiage railway. The beauty of that is that it allows me to run any loco of any era with any coaches and even unmatched coaches. The Swindon and Cricklade railway for example frequently runs a coach and brake coach in LMS livery, with a GWR livery dining car in the middle. When not in high summer, this is often pulled by a SR reigon 09. In summer it can be either a polish TKH or a ex GWR loco in BR black. XYZ
  3. As my guess has past, I am going to be hopeful and guess 7th June 2017. XYZ
  4. Improved usability when used on 2 screens of different sizes. I want my layout on my larger screen in the corner of the layout, but still be able to see the clock which otherwise appears below the bottom of the laptop screen, thereby making it invisible if I have a loco list showing on my small laptop screen. XYZ
  5. The ability to have more than 1 loco controller called up on the screen at any time. I want to have better functionallity for driving trains on RM or its easier to just use my elite. XYZ
  6. 7/6/2016 is my guess. Just a week before my next birthday. XYZ.
  7. Stephen, I fully understand your problem as I have the same point motors on some of my layout. I also use the Passing contact lever switch. A few things to remember when installing surface mounted point motors: 1) Make sure your track is secured to the baseboard. Hornby track pins are ideal for this purpose. This is especially important if you use the foam underlay. If you don't, it may move. 2) Common can be shared between multiple motors in DC, but must be present. Mine are fed from the 16vac supply on the back of my HM2000. Check also that the lug in the hole on the point motor housing is below the level of the top so that it slides in easily. /media/tinymce_upload/db6b5059e42530de19d07398e3d59206.png My diagram will have to be moderated, but it shows how I've wired mine, and I've had no problems other than motors not being aligned properly with the track.
  8. Use foil insulation not celetex. It is as effective, and works as a membrane as well. I know, I build things fro a living.
  9. If you really want to plan a track, that is what Trackmaster is for. I have an 8ft x 4'5'' track, which I planned on Trackmaster. Small radius curves are for small trains.
