  1. I think Hornby have sometimes used a date format like 50/04, which would mean the 50th week of 2004. Would this work with what you've seen?
  2. You can also get clues by looking at the coal load in the tender. If it is a high plastic moulding, visible from side on, then it is probably covering a tender drive unit. Newer loco drive models often have very low coal loads in order to show detailing on the inside of the tender. Phil.
  3. One complication with these coaches is that sometimes people put them in the wrong boxes before selling them. Several times I have seen Ebay items listed as the central divisible coaches, but the pictures show that one or both of the coaches is actually the end coach with the grille. I recently bought a center set from Ebay in GNER livery. The seller had three sets for sale. Two were correct but the other comtained two end coaches. He did correct the listing when I pointed out the error, but it is still confusing as the end coaches were only sold with the locos. Phil.
