  1. They are both top builds , love 'em. I am currently building the same kit also in Greek markings as like you I was not overly keen on the kit supplied schemes. I already have American and South African examples on my shelf so I bought the same decal sheet. I am doing an overall NMF Spitfire from the Hellenic Air Force. I hope mine turns out as nice as your builds.
  2. I hope you remembered to add weight to the nose. I shoved loads into my build and it only just sits level.
  3. Thanks PMM. I have built the old kit so should have the slipper tanks and decals in the spares box. Time to buy this kit me thinks. 😀 Thanks for the quick reply.
  4. This does look like a nice kit. Would it take much to convert this kit to a South African S.50 version?
  5. I'm very much looking forward to the Airfix MiG-17 release as I've been waiting for a decent Fresco for years now. The AZ kit just has too many issues for me and while I have a liking for the Dragon kit I think that comes from the satisfaction of actually completing it! I've heard noises about is being small but it looks ok to me. I've read some of the critisisms of the forthcoming kit online but I will reserve judgment until I see it with my own eyes. Some of the CAD images are a little disturbing though. I know that the new Airfix kit must go together easier than anything that has gone before. A new tool MiG-19 would be at the top of my kit list. As far as I know the KP kit from 1972 is the last time anyone has a go at this Cold War classic.
  6. A new 1/72 Spitfire Vbc are long overdue. Also from WW2 (1/72) a Battle of Britain era Ju-88A1 (It's been mentioned a few times here Mr. Airfix!), Beaufighter Mk.1. Moving on to the Cold War, the MiG-15 & MiG-21 are very well catered for in 1/72 but there is an obvious gap in the market with no modern tooled MiG-17 or MiG-19, both very important early jet types with loads of colour options. Also needed are a Mirage IIICE, F-4CD Phantom whilst the old tool Buccaneer, Puma & Vulcan really are past their best nowadays. I would love to see the Northrop F-5 family tooled by Airfix in 1/72 scale, F-5ABEF. Absolutely loads of camo options out there yet only the old ESCI kit does the AB any justice whilst the Italeri F-5E is very good it has raised panel lines and only the platypus nose cone.
